“Cap and Tax” Bill Barely Passes House

All Clubs Should Monitor Bill Closely in the Senate as Harry Reid Wants a Vote Before August Recess

The “Cap and Tax” bill designed to protect against greenhouse-gas emissions by imposing a cap on the amount of carbon that utilities and companies could produce passed the House by a vote of 219-212 late Friday. This bill will pass costs along to businesses and consumers and could lead to jobs going overseas.

“You’re going to find signs on manufacturing doors, if this bill passes, that say, ‘Moved, gone to China,'” said Sen. Charles Grassley (R., Iowa) on ABC’s “This Week.”  (Wall Street Journal)

The bill is now in the Senate and will soon face votes from the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the Environment and Natural Resources Committee. But Obama and Harry Reid’s Democrats want to rush a vote before the August recess in Congress.

It is clear this legislation will add costs to small businesses that will hurt their ability to hire more workers. It will also drain your pocketbook as utility bills will rise. Contact the senators in your state and also tell Senator Jeff Bingaman and Senator Barbara Boxer who chair the committees where the bill now resides that we will not stand for cap and tax.

The Dirty Little Secrets and Hope

Cap and Trade or the “get all the sucker’s money” bill passed last Friday by a VERY NARROW margin.  More than 200  Democrats lined up under party leadership (Nancy Pelosi) to sell America down the river.   Thousands of jobs are going to be lost and your utility bills within a year are going to rise and keep rising.

Some will say, but look at the Democrats who voted against Cap and Trade.  They are heroes. The dirty little secret is the Democrat leadership picks out the Democrats who may lose their seat if they don’t vote for the conservative position occasionally and lets them off the hook.  This way their constituents don’t throw them out of office and they keep the Democrats in the majority.

Remember the majority party gets to set up all the committees as they see fit and the committees determine what legislation is presented and what is not. Not until Republicans take back the House is there any opportunity to begin to dismantle this evil.

Here is another dirty little secret. Barack Hussein Obama was behind it all.  This is not really Waxman’s bill. He serves as a toady for Obama.

Mack of California, Castle of Delaware, Kirk of Illinois, Lance, Lobiondo and Chris Smith of New Jersey, Reichart of Washington and McHugh of New York are the infamous Republicans who supported the Cap and Trade bill. You’ve heard of the Dirty Dozen, well here is the Ugly Eight.

If you live in New Jersey, California, New York, Illinois or Delaware you should begin now to look for genuine Conservative Republicans to replace these men.  They have betrayed you and America.

If you have friends in any of these states you should forward this on to them. Why not start raising funds now for a conservative to knock out these congressmen?  Why not write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper complaining about their violation of trust?  Why not call the other Congressmen in your state and ask them to call for apologies from the Ugly Eight? Why not call or e-mail any of these eight if they represent your district and ask for their resignation?

As it stands at the moment more jobs will be lost in this Obama recession and energy costs… gasoline…. electricity, etc. will rise.  What will you do about it?

Now the US Senate has scheduled a vote for Friday on “Card Check”. This legislation is yet another form of payback the Obama Administration is providing unions for their support during the election last year.

If passed, this law would allow union thugs to descend on business all over the country and force employees to state if they would join a union, in the open without the benefit of a secret vote.

This will open the door for intimidation and coercion of employees across the country.

It will increase the price of goods as “union wages” are foisted upon business owners. This legislation will allow unions a vehicle to dramatically expand their power and influence throughout the spectrum of the economy. They already own GM and Chrysler, we cannot allow them to dominate labor across the land.

We need to contact both our Senators and demand that they vote NO on “Card Check”.

Hope & Change… A Guest Post from Albert E. Holm

It’s a universal and timeless cry!  It has been heard and tried by every generation and people of many races and cultures.  The common factor has been instigated by one tyrant or another.

In the seventeenth century, the aristocrats, the kings and noblemen of the ‘ruling class imposed their will on the peasants and working class people to do their bidding.  The common man had hope for a better life… maybe even freedom to live his life as he wanted and provide for himself and his children.

The desire for that freedom was strong enough for those of like mind to band together and effect the changes needed to achieve the goal of freedom and self achievement.

Similar groups banded together and arranged for transportation to the new colonies of the American continent.  In the colonies, they would be free from the aristocrats of their homeland, the gentry would not endure the work of establishing a new home and world.

And; so it was,  The determined down-trodden took it on themselves to implement the changes necessary to live a better life and achieve the hope they had.

It wasn’t easy to reach their “change.”   They had to do it themselves.  Those who produced the change, enjoyed the benefits created by that change.

History tells us of many “uprisings” of the ordinary man to create change for himself and his family.  In the French Revolution, the peasants  rose up and built a guillotine to put an end to the tyrants that had enslaved them.

In a later time, another tyrant, named HITLER, came forth promising new hope and change.  It sounded good then.  Hope for a better life appeals to the common man.  Man wants a better return on his work and a change for a better life for himself and his family.  It would also be nice if someone else would do the work.

Herein lies the problem.  The one who does the work is the one who enjoys the benefits of the change.  We all know what happened to Germany when Hitler had run his course.  The people who had hope for a better life became the victims of the tyrant and ultimately suffered because they didn’t make the changes in their own lives to achieve their hope for a better life.

Once again we hear the tantalizing promise of “Hope and Change” from yet another tyrant, Barack Hussein Obama.  History is repeating itself.  When those who want change, but don’t make the change themselves, and permit someone else to make the change for them, then they get what the early French and Hitler’s German people got… a return to the dark ages.  If there is to be any hope for true change, it must be brought about by the people themselves.

Fortunately, we have a ballot-box as a tool rather than a guillotine, and it is just as effective if it is used by those that seek a change to better lives.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America; and culturally, you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience; thus, don’t understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and “class,” always blaming others.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer “windmills” to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use “extortion” tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O’Reillys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term, I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

From time to time, smartguyz.net endorses a person who is running for the first time or for re-election in the political realm. It is our hope that smartguyz.net readers will support financially, and in other ways where possible, the campaign of these persons.

Persons endorsed may be candidates for municipal, county, state or federal offices. It is easily forgotten that every level of government determines our way of life and each level of government impacts the others.

The philosophy of smartguyz.net is that America needs to elect intelligent, articulate, electable conservatives on every level of government. No one is endorsed who does not have these characteristics.

Today, smartguyz.net elects to endorse a newcomer to the political arena, Mr. Fabian Calvo, of Dunedin, Florida.

Why has smartguyz.net selected Mr. Calvo?

Smartguyz.net is well known as a CONSERVATIVE  Republican political blog.  We believe that a Republican is as a Republican does.  Simply having an “R” beside one’s name does NOT make an individual a true Republican.

This should be easily observed in the likes of Colin Powell, who claims to be a moderate Republican and who endorsed left-wing liberal Democrat Barak Obama. Other moderates/liberals would include Tom Ridge, Lindsay Graham, and Olympia Snow. Such persons are useless to the conservative cause and to the advancement of America. Genuine Republicans value the Constitution above all other political documents in the world, with the Declaration of Independence coming in a close second. They believe in a free market economy, lower taxes, reducing government spending, family values and in reducing the size of government.

Fabian Calvo holds to these conservative positions without equivocation. The position he seeks is Florida House of Representatives, District 45.

Calvo is clearly articulate as is witnessed to by his more than 50,000 listeners on the Fabian Calvo radio program, which is available online at http://www.fabiancalvoshow.com.

He carries a copy of the Constitution with him and has read more than 50 books on conservatism and its principles. He reads, on average, two books per week and is a remarkable intelligent man.

He is clearly electable with help, which is needed by most politicians. He is friendly and is the kind of person you would like to have coffee with.

Florida is in trouble in three economic areas particularly. Property taxes are far too high and homeowners insurance is largely run by Citizen’s Insurance, operated by the state of Florida. The premiums are very high as you would expect with a government run program.  In the event of a massive hurricane, Florida would be bankrupted. When Charlie Crist ran for the governor’s seat he said he would take care of these critical issues. He has not.

Additionally, Medicaid (not to be confused with Medicare) is a huge portion of the Florida state government expenditure and a huge portion of Medicaid is going to illegal aliens. Unless these three issues are addressed courageously by politicians in Tallahassee, Florida is on the road to financial bankruptcy.

Smartguyz.net believes that fresh new thinkers are needed in state government, who will address these prickly issues and help develop better solutions because it not only impacts Florida, it impacts the nation. Fresh eyes with fresh insight are needed now. Fabian Calvo started his own business seven years ago and now is very successful. He has created jobs and opportunity for others. In other words, he is a free market entrepreneur who does not seek position for money or power. He is running for the Florida House of Representatives position because of his intense loyalty to America and free enterprise. He has those fresh eyes and fresh insights needed in our time.

Audit the FED!!!

Because of your ongoing support for H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009, I thought you might be interested to learn of recent events in this regard.

 

You will be pleased to know that I agreed to cosponsor H.R. 1207, which would remove restrictions on the Government Accountability Office‘s ability to audit the FED effectively and would require the Comptroller General of the United States to audit the Federal Reserve by the end of 2010.  Like you, I too believe that there needs to be increased transparency throughout the entire banking industry, especially since the FED has loaned or guaranteed trillions of dollars without any transparency or Congressional oversight just in the last 12 months.

 

H.R. 1207 remains pending before the House Financial Services Committee where hearings have not yet been held.  In an effort to be of all possible assistance to you, I have taken the liberty of sharing our mutual support for this legislation with my colleagues on the committee.  As they continue to review the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, you can be sure that they will keep our views in mind.

Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi Endangers Soldiers on the Field

She continues to insist that classified pictures of Gitmo, etc. be made public. This will inflame the Muslim world and doubtless cause more of our men and women in Afghanistan and Iraq to be attacked and some killed.

Even Obama, the apology tour king, recognizes this would be a huge mistake.

However, Pelosi is testing her strength and she comes from San Francisco, where many of her constituents think it is a good think for anyone in the military to die.  This self-absorbed woman considers  American water boarding torture, while completely ignoring the Muslim fundamentalists who cut off peoples hands, literally pull peoples arms off while they are screaming in horror and anguish and behead the innocent.

Haven’t we seen our share already of widows at the graves of their soldier husbands? Why does Nancy insist that we need more such deaths?  Democrats, who read this blog, should take action to knock her out of the Speaker’s chair!
